Pomodoro meets mountain air and guitar rhythm.

Do you like dedicating time to your hobby?

For me, there’s hardly anything better – so I was all the more excited to spend a week in the breathtaking mountain world of Arosa doing exactly that.

In an inspiring seven-day guitar workshop under professional guidance, we learned every day in several lessons to refine our technique, strengthen our sense of rhythm – and work on our musicality.

The learning workload was enormous, and so I found myself asking a question that many leaders also grapple with: How can I efficiently manage a large number of tasks without getting lost or overwhelmed?

Which proven technique helped me with this – both when playing guitar and in leadership – is what I’m sharing with you today in my newsletter.

What could be better than devoting an entire week to your own hobby – in the midst of the breathtaking mountain scenery of Arosa?

That’s exactly what I’m doing right now at GuitArosa, an inspiring seven-day guitar workshop that I can wholeheartedly recommend to every passionate guitarist – and to anyone who wants to become one.

A lot of material – little time?

Under the professional guidance of Mani Maurer, we’re learning every day in several lessons to refine our technique, strengthen our sense of rhythm – and work on our musicality. The learning workload is intense, the joy is great. And at the same time, a question arises that many leaders know all too well: How can I efficiently manage a large number of tasks without getting lost or overwhelmed?

This is where a valuable impulse came into play – thanks, Sam 😉 – which reminded me once again of a familiar tool: the Pomodoro Technique.

Efficiency in 25-minute blocks: The Pomodoro Technique

The method is simple but highly effective:

  • You devote 25 minutes exclusively to one clearly defined task.
  • Then comes a 5-minute break in which you consciously switch off.
  • After four such phases you take a longer break of about 20–30 minutes.

What’s special about it? This technique helps you structure complex or overwhelming packages of tasks and process them in manageable steps. You gain clarity, stay on track – and experience noticeable progress.

Efficiency begins with consciously managing your energy

This is particularly exciting for leaders: our daily lives are often shaped by interruptions, constant availability, and multitasking. But true efficiency doesn’t come from frantic ticking off of tasks, but from focused phases of deliberate activity, interrupted by conscious recovery. The Pomodoro Technique brings exactly that: an effective balance of performance and regeneration.

The effect on your energy level, your sense of self-efficacy and ultimately also on your quality of work is remarkable – not only when playing guitar but just as much in leadership or everyday work.

My conclusion from the mountains

Rarely have I experienced efficiency as concretely as here in Arosa – with guitar in hand, task list in view and the timer set to 25 minutes. A simple tool with a big lever.

Speaking of timers: by now there are great tools for this like Toggl Track – a lean, intuitive software developed precisely for this purpose and ideal for focused work.

If you, as a leader or entrepreneur, would like to learn more about such methods for increasing personal efficiency, feel free to get in touch with me.

Or discover my books – full of practical impulses for leaders who want to achieve more.
